BLINDERS

So as not to miss
the unexpected surprises
that might find me,
I take off my blinders
and wrap them in red cloth
with owl feathers,
and pack them away
in a box marked
'no longer useful items.'

I wouldn't want to miss
one small glimmer
of the scintillating light
of my own resurrection
as the pure white light
of Truth
dawns for me.

TO GO WITH A FREE HEART

You must release each child
that this body has birthed
each having their own destiny,
their own path to walk
in order to go with a free heart.

All the lines of thought
that you focused on each day,
the small problems and concerns
no longer need your attention
so that you go with a free heart.

You must withdraw from your interests,
the paintings, books and gardens
you've created and tended
reclaiming your creative fire
to leave with a free heart.

The fields that you've studied
the tracks your mind wandered into
discovering, divining, mastering,
removing each mind tentacle
to go with a free heart.

The house you lived in
the family you built and nourished
the friends of your heart, all dear to you,
it is time to surrender them
so that you leave with a free heart.

Those things left unsaid
love not shown and touches not given
or received, yet take memory and feelings,
as you loosen
to go with a free heart.

Seeing the gatekeepers presence
they who help you to cross over
through the veil, empty handed,
full of heart, spirit glowing,
you go with a free heart.
