EDITOR'S COMMENTS
I need a lot of energy to do what I have to do with my remaining years. I'm seventy-four years old now, and, at my age, the tasks ahead of me are daunting, especially the long range task of helping my son Jake, the one with muscular dystrophy, to live his life high and positive.
I also have to be here for my other two young boys, Callahan and Zane - and my two older kids too. I need to be here for at least another twenty years - and strong and healthy for all that time too. I believe I can do this. My dad was still going strong at ninety-two, when he ran into a parked car. Even then, he lived for three more months in the hospital.
Because of this, I've been thinking a lot about energy. How can I maintain high quality energy for the rest of my time here? And what shall I do with it besides raising my three sons to become good, brave and honest men?
In my essay "Energy," I write about how to acquire and maintain a stable and high quality energy. I write about what it would then be like to always have this high energy, as well as what we can do with it to further ourselves, our families, and the world.
In this issue of The Caldron, "Wisdom's Corner" shares information and insights regarding energy from Arnold Mindell's book Dreambody, from Koichi Tohei's book Kiatsu, from James Redfield's book Celestine Prophecy, and from Carlos Castaneda's book Journey to Ixtlan.
"BeHereNow" highlights a short essay by Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich asking whether Osama Bin Laden even exists, suggesting that if he no longer does, the Bush administration would have had to reinvent him. "BeHereNow" also shares some lighter takes on today's reality, including the hilarious "Having to Take a Whisper."
I have also included a short essay called "The White Tower," one that I wrote years ago. It is an essay that is even more relevant today. In it, I suggest that it is time for all of us ordinary folks to wake up, to come together, and to neutralize the dark forces that are at work today trying to take away our freedoms. As that old Rabbi once said, "If not now, when? If not us, who?"
Heather Burke, a single mom from outside Orlando, Florida, shares some of her wonderful and very moving poetry with us. In addition to her poetry, she writes short stories and children's stories and hopes someday to finish a novel.
Ariana Saraha graces our pages with two of her poems. You may visit her website at www.arianasaraha.com. You can also find more of her poetry and musings on her blog - blissprincess.blogspot.com.
In "Seeds from Plot 509," Aspen Marks discusses energy and explains why Jake, our son with muscular dystrophy, although lighter in weight than his brother Callahan, actually feels heavier. It has to do with the energy that they each can manifest.
"And Then There Were Drugs" is a collection of twelve short but interesting takes on today's world of drugs. My favorite is "Cocaine is God's way of saying you're making too much money" by Robin Williams.
"Why Can't I Own a Canadian" is a letter that was sent to Dr. Laura Schlessinger of TV fame. The good doctor had quoted scripture that said that homosexuality is an abomination. The same scriptures also say that it is alright to own slaves if they are from neighboring nations.
"Sweet Tators" is a message from the Tator people asking basically what kind of tator we are. I hope we are all sweet. Click on the tator and find out.
And there are "More Amazing Crop Circles" for your perusal and enjoyment. They were suggested by Rex King. They are all stunning and very beautiful. Jung once said that UFOs and crop circles are mandalas that become especially prevalent during times of chaos and change - like today!
I am also including here a short prayer from Hal Paris, a Certified Rolfer in Boulder. He says it is his favorite prayer.
God, grant me the serenity to
Accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Enjoy,
