THE DREAM MYSTIC Interprets your dreams...

Dreamer: I dream of a ghost woman of some fantasy variety. Perhaps she is a mermaid, a sidhe, a faery? She floats above the ground, beautiful but full of sorrow. There is one who sees her and loves her, a man. He offers her a massage. He oils her entire ghostly form, bringing life to her ethereal bones. Another comes along and recognizes the woman/ghost. "Oh no, what have you done?!!," he cries. "She is Sekhmet, the great destroyer goddess from ancient Egypt. She has taste only for blood and death." But Sekhmet, now a living, breathing woman, replies, "ahh, but I did not let him oil me completely. See here, this spot on my side has been left untouched. I choose to awaken again, but this time as a Lover, not as a goddess of death."

Dream Mystic: I see that there is a part of you that has been asleep, dead as a ghost, but still haunting you. On the surface, this side of you appears gentle & ephemeral, a sad faery princess to be saved. This man (a part of yourself that sees you and cares for you) pities you, loves you even, and wishes to bring you back to life.

But under the surface appearance of gentleness and fragility lies much power. You are a goddess that carries the tools for much destruction. Sekhmet, as I know her, is a lioness with fierce speed and sharp teeth. She was sent to earth by her father Ra to keep the balance. She was sent in a time when the population had overgrown the earth's resources and the people no longer lived in peace (hmm, sounds familiar). Although terrible, she had her place within the delicate balance of the earth. However, once the balance was found, she would not stop. She had taste only for blood. So the people conspired to stop her. They made a river of 'blood' using henna and hops. The henna turned the water red, and the hops and other herbs put her into a deep sleep....

...And she has been sleeping ever since. And in our memories, perhaps only as a ghost. So back to your dream... Now she has been found, and reawakened. A part of yourself that is horrible and destructive, and wonderfully powerful, has been reborn. But you choose your power, and this time you choose not to destroy. And this man, he has helped to bring you there. He is your inner male, your anima, your yang. He is your masculine strength, the side of you that tends to your femininity and cherishes it. In fact, he may even protect it. And he may also come to you in waking life, in the form of a man who loves you. Keep conscious to be the Sehkmet that you choose, a Lover this time around. Do not let the ever-powerful desire to destroy enter this relationship.

I see that this is a choice many of us must face. It's not for me to say which is 'right' or 'wrong,' but just to help make conscious the choice. When we come into our power, it is often a breakthrough of an immense welling-up of energy. What has been held back wants to take form. We want to act, and we want to act now! But take a moment, take a breath, and reflect. What has brought you here to this place. What were your dreams when you were young? What kind of world do you want to see now? After taking a time of stillness, breathing into this newfound power, then act from a place that feels authentic to you. Whether Lover, Destroyer, Creator, Visionary, Activist, Healer or Hermit, now is the time to bring your true Voice alive!
